ER 120 Ceramic Grinding Media

The Original Ceramic Bead
ER120 is a fused ceramic grinding bead based on zirconium silicate. Available in two grades, ER120 A is well suited to large volumes and vertical mills, while ER120 S is an enhanced version designed for use in horizontal mills. ER120 is an ideal replacement for glass, improving productivity and cost effectiveness. The polished surface of ER120 ensures low mill wear.
Zirconia and silica composite material
Manufactured by the fusion of oxides, ER120 combines the benefits of ceramic zirconia and glass. When cooling to room temperature, the melt solidifies with a specific composite material structure made of a zirconia monoclinic phase dispersed in a glassy silica phase.

Optimized grind with the right bead size
Available in small bead sizes on a large scale, ER120 is well known for its high performance in volume production of mineral pigments and fillers. Grinding of minerals like TiO2 or CaCO3 to the right particle size distribution (including narrow distribution and very small D50) is possible with the correct selection of the ER120 bead size. The smooth surface of ER120 limits energy losses due to the reduced bead-to-bead friction, making it more cost effective than natural sand, for instance.
