Advanced Technical Ceramics

Advanced technical ceramic parts are used in harsh environments in which resistance to wear and corrosion and high mechanical performance are of primary importance. Zirconia-based materials are the best solution for these types of applications due to their excellent bending strength and toughness, superior hardness and resistance to corrosive environments. Four main zirconium dioxide-based materials are utilized for the manufacturing of advanced technical ceramics:

  • Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ)
  • Magnesia Partially Stabilized Zirconia (MgPSZ)
  • Zirconia-Toughened Alumina (ZTA)
  • Alumina-Toughened Zirconia (ATZ)

The ceramic industry’s choice for decades in the manufacture of MgPSZ, ATZ and ZTA parts, ZirPro’s monoclinic zirconia powders offer a market-leading variety of particle sizes and shapes, chemical purity from 97.0% (CC, CF and CS) to 99.99% (CZ, CZP and CZE), and reactivity ranging from 1 m²/g to 25 m²/g.

Ceramics for Decoration

Zirconia-based decorative ceramics have defined a new dimension in advanced ceramics by combining high mechanical performance with amazing aesthetical properties of color and gloss. They are increasingly used for accessory parts in high-end consumer goods as an alternative to metals and plastics. Applications include watches and jewelry parts, automotive interior parts and electronic device components (smartphones, household equipment)

New vibrancy with Black Zirconia powders

ZirPro’s pigmented powders include specific pigmentation systems that result in pure, deep and homogeneous black coloration of the final ceramic. Zirconia provides superior scratch resistance and longer durability as well as perfect surface finishing and high gloss. Thanks to its biocompatibility and thermal effusivity, zirconia-based ceramics offer a safe and unique touch.
