Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and Food industries share all the same concern in regard to contamination during processing. Formulations can range from viscous pastes to diluted slurries, from relatively coarse materials to nano-sized bio-chemicals, organic or mineral. Meticulous care of the milling process is required with often high-value products. All of these factors have a significant impact on media selection, particularly in terms of leaching, particles release and the ability to sustain sterilizing procedures.
Saint-Gobain ZirPro has been supplying high-quality ceramic media to the Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and Food industries for more than 40 years. ZirPro’s market-leading range of media includes ER120, Rimax®, Zirmil® Ce and Zirmil® Y, which are designed to meet the exacting demands of each specific suspension type. A wide range of sizes are available, from 50 µm to 3 mm.
ZirPro’s in-house R&D centers provide the technical expertise needed to guarantee the highest product performance for these varied and complex formulations. After-sales services include full technical support to help ensure problem-free operations.
Zirmil® YP – deigned for the milling of pharmaceuticals ingredients
Zirmil® YP is engineered to the highest specifications of advanced ceramic materials and technology, to meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.
Zirmil®YP milling media is based upon a unique in-house technology using ZirPro’s own advanced yttria-stabilized zirconia powder as the only raw material. This enables precise control of grain size, a critical factor in optimizing bead wear behavior.
Zirmil®YP is offered with a narrow bead size distribution and perfect spherical shape, which provides superior operational performance. Although bead lifetime is dependent on suspension formulations, Zirmil®YP is commonly used for extremely long periods of time — often for more than 10,000 hours.
Zirmil®YP helps to ensure long, non-disruptive production runs with high productivity.
