ZirPro offers efficient and durable ceramic blasting media — Microblast®, Zirblast®, Zirglass® and Zirshot® — for surface treatment processes such as blast cleaning, surface preparation, surface finishing and shot peening.
Saint-Gobain ZirPro assists customers in the development of their blasting or peening process. ZirPro provides technical support in selecting the most appropriate abrasive ceramic media along with the relevant blasting process to achieve the technical and productivity objectives of customers.
ZirPro surface treatment application labs are equipped with the most advanced blasting and peening process tools. ZirPro application labs — such as ZirLab — are located in Saint-Gobain R&D centers, where they benefit from a wide range of state-of-the-art analytical equipment for conducting in-depth characterization of the treated components.
Comprehensive support of the industrial applications
ZirPro’s surface treatment application labs are fully equipped to simulate a wide range of ceramic media applications in cosmetic finishing, blast cleaning, surface preparation and shot peening. Scientific approaches are employed to characterize the performance and behavior of ZirPro blasting ceramic media.
The following blasting and peening technologies currently are used at the surface treatment application labs:
- Suction air cabinets offer flexible and versatile solutions for manual or automatic blasting operations
- Direct pressure blasting equipment projects ceramic beads at the highest velocities for high-energy peening and intensive blasting operations (which can be used with a collaborative robot)
- Wet pressure blasting provides refined surface finishing
- Airless wheel turbine blasting dedicated to the surface treatment of large batches of industrial tools and metallic parts
Science and engineering at your service
Customers can count on the support of ZirPro R&D engineers — material science experts with strong backgrounds in industrial blasting processes. This dual approach, which combines scientific methods and industrial practices, allows ZirPro to propose the most relevant ceramic media for customers’ applications.
The operating conditions defined in ZirPro application labs are transferable to the industrial processes at customers’ manufacturing operations. To maximize the benefits of Microblast®, Zirblast®, Zirglass® and Zirshot® ceramic beads, ZirPro’s technical experts also provide assistance with on-site industrial trials as well as analyzing blasting and peening process set-ups.
